You wouldn't believe how much I've missed my blog and all of you amazing people whilst I've been away in the (not so) sunny Cornwall getting married. But I'm back! I hope you've all enjoyed the Guest Posts and Wedding Posts that were scheduled over the last couple of weeks.
Whilst I was away there was one product that was forever gracing my lips - I even ended up wearing it on my wedding day. I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you, so I present to you, my new favourite Essence product!
The make-up world seems to be buzzing with with matt lips at the moment - but this is one review you're going to want to keep reading, a gem in disguise! The Essence XXXL Lipglosses come in both glossy and matte finishes, but today it's all about the matte ones. There are only a few shades available in the matte finish, but fingers crossed they bring out some more shades! Each has a reasonable 4.5ml of product inside, which applies with a flattened doe-foot applicator. This is available from Wilkinsons for just £2.30 - bargain!
Matte lip creams seem to be all the craze at the moment - I hope that is doesn't fade though as I'm loving them! In my quest to find the best of the best I've tried a lot of matte lip creams that are dry and flaky, but I'm pleased to report that the formula of this Essence one is gorgeous. It doesn't dry down fully on the lips. Instead keeping a silky smooth feel on the lips with no dry feeling at all. This means that the wear time isn't as long as those that set - I get around 3 hours wear from this. But you do get the benefit of an even wear - no flaking off in sight! It's also worth noting this does has a reasonably strong Vanilla scent too it!
Colour & Pigmentation
Another reason why I love this lipgloss is that colour is perfect for me. This is the ultimate glamorous nude - goes with everything too! The shade is a gorgeous brown toned rose shade. Don't let the hints of brown in it put you off, it helps to dull down the pink and gives it a vintage edge. The finish isn't fully matte, instead being more of a satin/slightly sheeny finish - definitely less shiny than a proper lipgloss though! As for pigmentation, I have no problems at all! All in all I am enamoured with the colour and formula - check it out!
The Good - Cheap, value, smells good, pigmented, pretty colour, even wear (doesn't crack/flake), non-drying.
The Not so Good - Not fully matte (still pretty though!), not many shades available.
Price & Availability - £2.30, Wilkinsons.
