When I think of H&M I don't generally think of make-up - more clothes! It's actually one of my favourite shops as it has some slightly more edgy and alternative clothes, whilst still staying within my comfort zone - they also sell the best hoodies! I recently went and saw a family member who I haven't seen in a long time and she gave me my very belated Christmas present of an H&M voucher. I had a browse of the clothes, but didn't see anything I liked, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try some of their make-up! I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, but actually the seem to be not too bad (and very good value!).
Smoky Eyeshadows - Smoky Purple
Is this not just gorgeous?! It's full with purple & taupe shades, which I think will create a gorgeous smoky purple eye (funny that!). A couple of the shades lack pigmentation but on the whole I think this isn't half bad. It hasn't made it to my eyes yet, but I'm suspecting this will work best over a stickier base such as a cream eyeshadow to enhance the colour. But for just £3.99 this is very good!
Smoky Eyeshadows - Smoky Brown
Another one of the Smoky Eyeshadows Palettes. I did plan on just getting one to test the water, but got a little carried away and couldn't make my mind up on which one! These palettes actually remind me very much of the NYC Smoky/Natural Shadow Palettes - but cheaper! And also with more colour choices! This brown one contains warmer toned shades and even a matte brown that's not too shabby!
Nude Eyeshadows - Soft Nudes
Aside from the Smoky Palettes, they have a selection of nude eyeshadow palettes. From the swatches it seems like these might be very sheer. But as I often have to say, it's not a lack of pigmentation, just that the colours don't show up so well on my pale skin. I was drawn to this palette though because it has subtle cool toned and even some grey toned nudes in it.
Glow in UV Light Lipgloss - Pink
Yes I do fall for gimmicks! But actually aside from the UV aspect this seems like a very decent lip product. It's surprisingly pigmented and not sticky - both things I'm a fan of! It is also absolutely delicious - melon scented is the way forward for lipgloss! This was available in one other shade at my local H&M - a coral shade. I may have to investigate the lipglosses there more if they all smell this good!
Liquid Eyeliner - Purple
I bought this hoping that it would be a nice pastel shade and I hit jackpot, this is a nice lilac shade. It's not super pigmented, but the swatch just shows one coat. Hopefully layering will give a more opaque finish! I also noticed when I washed my hands (with soap) that this took some scrubbing to remove - which I really wasn't expecting. They also had a pastel blue and mint green available - well I think they were, there were no testers or anything so I'm just going on the outside packaging!
H&M really wasn't a place that I was expecting to find good make-up! I mean it isn't brilliant, but it does seem better than I was expecting! Do let me know if you'd like to see reviews of anything - but I have a feeling they rotate items pretty quickly, so I'd head down soon if you fancied any of these products!
