I love it when deliveries catch me off guard, they're just that little bit more exciting! And that's exactly what this months Birchbox did, the little guy was sat on the table waiting for me - the only benefit of having housemates is they can answer the door when I get parcels! But lets get back to the fact that it arrived today, and it's Sunday! I had a little look at the box and I think it's delivered by Yodel - which worries me a little as I've had plenty of trouble with them in the past! This months theme is London Fashion Week.
Value of this Months Box = ~£31.30.
Inside this months box...
Gerda Spillman - Bio Fond Cream Foundation
Korres Guava Shower Gel
Nick Chavez Beverly Hills - Plump N' Thick Leave-In Thickening Mist
Vichy - Thermal Spa Water (Limited Edition)
EBoost - Natural Energy Booster (Lifestyle Extra)
Birchbox Eyelash Curl (Beauty Extra)
Birchbox is basically a monthly sample subscription for £10 (+p&p), but you can find out more here
Gerda Spillman - Bio Fond Cream Foundation
Price for Fullsize - $19.95, 4.5g (larger sizes available)
Size & Value of Sample - $19.95 (~£12.85 as of today), 4.5g.
They Say - 'This light, creamy base is easy to apply, offers great coverage and sets to a powder finish. No wonder it's used on movie sets - we're ready for our close-up!'
My Thoughts - I'm going to get no use out of this it's way too orange for me! I wish they'd have more sense than to put a foundation in a sample box!
Korres Guava Shower Gel
Price for Fullsize - £8, 250ml
Size & Value of Sample - 50ml, £1.60 (This 50ml size is available in sets)
They Say - 'The sweet, sophisticated scent of the moisturizing shower gel will invigorate you, while wheat proteins and aloe vera cleanse and hydrate your skin.'
My Thoughts - I was pretty happy to see this in my box as I've bee more than intrigued by Korres products. The scent seems something that would be universally likeable, just to see how it works now!
Nick Chavez Beverly Hills - Plump N' Thick Leave-In Thickening Mist
Price for Fullsize - £13.90, 237ml
Size & Value of Sample - 59ml, £3.46
They Say - 'Get visible volume with this light but powerful leave in treatment from Nick Chavez. Just spritz onto towel dried hair before styling.'
My Thoughts - Wasted on me as I have dreadlocks! This will be given to a friend probably.
Vichy - Thermal Spa Water (Limited Edition)
Price for Fullsize - £7, 150ml.
Size & Value of Sample - 50g, £2.34.
They Say - 'Soothing and regenerating, this multi-purpose product is naturally enriched with 15 minerals and 13 trace elements. It can be used as a toner, to set make-up or as a refreshing boost'.
My Thoughts - I'm not overly fussed on this, as reading the ingredients it just seems like water. I was also a little scared to spray it on my face, but actually it was fine! As for the limited edition part, from what I can say it's only the packaging.
EBOOST - Natural Energy Booster (Lifestyle Extra)
Price for Fullsize - £20.99 for 20 sachets.
Size & Value of Sample - 1 sachet, £1.05.
They Say - 'We're relying on EBOOST's natural, nutrient-rich, no-crash tonic to see us through this year's Fashion Week. Just mix the sachet contents with cold water and drink up'.
My Thoughts - As far as the lifestyle extra goes, this is fine by me. Although not of much use at the moment I'm sure it will get used. And sounds a bit like Berroca - if that's how you spell it!
Birchbox Eyelash Curl (Beauty Extra)
Price for Fullsize - £10
Size & Price of Sample - £10
They Say - 'Get a wide-open, catwalk-worthy gaze with the help of this Birchbox eyelash curler. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes!'
My Thoughts - I don't use eyelash curlers as my lashes are actually one part of my face I like. But I'll give them a go and see if the perform wonders - you never know!
Overall I think this was a good quality box with a great mix of different types of products eg skin, hair, body and make-up. But on a more personal level quite a few of the products are a miss for me because I have pale skin and dreadlocks! What did you think of this months box? Hannah

It does seem a bit stupid to put a foundation in a beauty box... or they could have emailed members first to get a close shade :) x
ReplyDeleteThey have a questionnaire you fill out when you subscribe, where I told them I had fair skin. So just stupid all around really!
DeleteShame about the foundation, I don't understand why they do that!
ReplyDeleteMe neither, I haven't seen many people with oompa loopma skin either wanting a foundation that colour!
Deletehow can they add foundation in a sample box...:(
ReplyDeleteNot sure Preethi!
DeleteLooks like a pretty great beauty box! Its a shame about the foundation as it seems like a good one! I love receiving packages too, its like xmas ;)
ReplyDeleteYes aparty from that it's pretty good - very well rounded at least!
DeleteI was disappointed with the foundation too for the same reason- I would have loved to have tried it too- what a waste!

ReplyDeleteI actually put it on my face today as I wasn't going out and it strangely showed up a lot lighter on my skin and is actually a pretty nice foundation. Still a tad too dark though!
DeleteIt's silly that they put foundations in beauty boxes, the chance it's actually going to match someone's skin tone well is slim.
ReplyDeleteAlso totally agree with you about Yodel, they are awful at delivering packages! I've only had something delivered from them once and it was a right pain! xx
Glad it's not just me with Yodel - it does worry me a little as I know I have very slim chances of actually getting my Birchbox if I'm not in when they try to deliver it!
