Review + Swatches: ELF Studio Blush - Gotta Glow

I never used to be much of a person for using highlighter on my face. But over the last 6 months or so I've really come to love how glowing and pretty they can make my skin look. This particular one I've actually had from ELF for ages, but had been left untouched for a long time - I know, I'm awful! But when I eventually picked it up I didn't let it out of my sight for long. The lesson learnt is don't buy too much make-up at once and actually use the things I buy when I get them, not box them for ages!

As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
Although a highlight this comes from the Studio Blush line which includes a pretty decent 11 shade choices, each costing just £3.75. The packaging is actually really sleek and compact, wit no space wasted on those brushes that barely anyone uses. Packaging aside these each come with a not too bad 4.75g of product, definitely value for money.

The Formula
I did find that this had a quite powdery texture to it, so it did kick up some product when I used it, but application on the face was pretty trouble free and simple. I do find that this lasts really well on my face though which I won't lie, I wasn't expecting. I get at least 6 hours wear on my cheeks from these, but I do find that I get a very very subtle shimmer settling out over my face during the day using this, but so subtle that I don't find it bothers me.

Colour & Application
In the pan this just looks white, but when swatched you'll see it's true beauty. The white is actually pretty sheer and slightly yellow/cream coloured. It also hold some really subtle golden shimmer. It's not going to make you look like a glitter ball, but adds that lovely summer glow when placed on the high points of the face such as your cheek bones, bridge of your nose and your cupids bow. It also works really nicely in the inner corner of the eyes to brighten them up too.

The Good - gives a pretty glow to the face, cheap, value, nice packaging.

The Not so Good - Quite powdery, can give a little bit of glitter fall down on the face.

Would I repurchase? Probably yes - although worth mentioning I wouldn't say this has the best quality.

Price & Availability - £3.75, ELF's Website

I haven't had a chance to use this yet in proper summer sunshine. But I can imagine this is going to be perfect in the warmer months, only time will tell! As always thanks for stopping by and I'll speak to you soon

  1. This looks like a total dupe for NARS Albatross which I have. Very pretty! Too bad there's some fallout, though. I'd definitely pick this up to compare. Great review! :) xo

    1. I was thinking that from pictures etc, but didn't wanted to say anything as I haven't seen Albatross in real life. Thanks for confirming my suspicions though!

  6. Ohh, this looks really nice actually. I don't use highlighter that often but when I do I love Illamasqua's powder in "Intrigue" - might have to give this a go though :)
