Sorry for the slight ELF overload tonight, but I promise you it's worth it! I wore this today and had no less then three compliments on my eyeshadow - one from a boy (and it was a friend not my boyfriend!). I don't usually get that kind of a reaction just from eyeshadow, but when people notice it does kinda make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :) Anyway I hope you enjoy my review!
As always I've included a summary at the end :)
The Basics
If you've not heard about the ELF Brightening Eye Colours before, they are basically bargain quads from the essential line. The packaging is very cheap looking, but you get what you pay for and these cost just £1.50 for 2.5g! You do get a teeny double ended sponge applicator for your pennies too. In total there is a massive 18 colours available - quite a few of which I've reviewed before - if you search 'Brightening Eye Colour' in my search tab up at the top you should find them :)
The Formula
The formula of these is what I'd call alright! The texture is reasonably soft, quite powdery and also a little chalky, which can lead to some fading when blending. But if you tap off your brush before applying to the eye and use a stickier base (something like the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk is good) these are really great. On the eye on find that these literally don't crease all day over a regular eye primer, however there is some fading.
The Colours!
As you can see this is rather pigmented! The swatches on my hand are over the ELF Eyelid primer and on my eyes I've used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as a base.
White - This is a stunner in disguise as it actually has a really subtle pink duotone to it - perfect on the inner corner or browbone.
Blue - A straight up bright blue, with a subtle bit of silver shimmer going on.
Purple - This is a super bright medium, blue toned purple. Again almost matte, with a really small amount of silver shimmer.
Pink - A shimmery bright pink shade, cool toned.
The Good - cheap, value, lots of colour choices, looks super awesome on the eyes, pigmented.
The Not so Good - can give fallout, a little chalky.
Would I Repurchase? Oh yes!
