Famous Cosmetics is always a brand that I've walked past in Superdrug and never actually gone and had a look at. Infact that still remains true! But right towards the end of last year MUA had an offer where you got a few Famous Cosmetics bits with your order. I thought this was a little odd, but they have the same mother company (is that the correct term?), FB Beauty, so I guess it makes some kind of sense!
As always I've included a summary at the end :)
The Basics
As I have already said, Famous Cosmetics are avalilable from Superdrug, but they also have a website (link) which is currently having a 50% off sale! The normal price for one of these lipsticks is £4.99, but just £2.49 in the sale, which is not half bad! In total there are just 6 shades available, but the variety is pretty good considering. One thing that makes these stand out as a little different as they have a secret (well sort of!) compartment in the lid holding a 'balm' and teeeny mirror!
The Formula
I'm going to get this bit out of the way first - the 'balm' in the lid is almost identical in ingredients and in performance, so I'll just talk the formula of the lipstick, whilst meaning the same thing for the balm! These do actually remind me of the MUA lipsticks, they have the same vanilla scent, although perhaps stronger here. They also share the same smooth and even texture that is very creamy. Creamy comes with benefits and disadvantages - it means it applies and looks nice whilst not drying the lips. But does mean the wear time is 2-3 hours.
Colour & Pigmentation
When I first saw this I half wrote it off as being far too warm toned and orange for me. But being the beauty blogger I am, I still wanted to test and photograph it for you, which I'm glad I did as actually it's not quite as bad as I thought! I'd say it's more of a slightly pink toned peach shade, it's also somewhat milky toned, but not overly, so not too pale. I would say this strongly pigmented shade would be more suited to those with warmer toned skin though!

| This is less pink than the pictures may suggest! |
The Good - Cheap, pigmented, smells nice, applies smoothly, non-drying.
The Not so Good - the balm isn't really anything different from the lipstick, short wear time.
Would I repurchase? I wouldn't go out of my way too, but I'm not going to write it off!
Price & Availability - £4.99, Superdrug.
I'm not sure what to think of this lipstick, yes I like it, but the formula is very similar to MUA's and they cost £1! However if the colours right, £4.99 is still a good price to pay. Have you ever tried anything from the brand? What dis you think? Hannah

It's lovely right enough but I'm paler than you so it's not going to work either plus I have no luck with MUA lipsticks!
ReplyDeleteI do like the colour though.
Great review! xx
Thanks lovely, paler than me - I thought I was pretty pale! Pales a good thing though - red lips always look good on us if not the nudes!
DeleteThat little mirror is so cute! Must buy one of these after my no buy :)
