You may have heard recently that Joliebox has been taken over by Birchbox, which was a very exciting thought for me as I love watching all the American girls opening their boxes each month! So of course I had to sign up and give it a go! If you haven't got a clue what I'm on about, basically it's a very similar idea to Glossybox, where you sign up, pay and then receive some exciting luxury sized samples! Except the Birchbox gives us a lovely mini magazine to read as well as the product cards!
Inside the January 2013 Box...
Fresh - Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment
KMS California - FREE SHAPE Quick Blow Dry
Reverence De Bastien - Unguent for Nail & Cuticles
WEI - Royal Ming Firming and Hydrating Cream
Teapigs - Chamomile
Birchbox is basically a monthly sample subscription for £10 (+p&p), but you can find out more here
Fresh - Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment
Price for Fullsize - £15.50
Size of Birchbox Sample - 2.2g
My Thoughts - I'm pretty excited about this as I've heard so many good things. I haven't put it on my lips yet, but it smells gorgeous and not particularly rosey. Which for me is good! The colour seems to be pretty sheer, infact barely even there, but the texture seems nice. I will have to let you know how I get on!
KMS California - FREE SHAPE Quick Blow Dry
Price for Fullsize - £13.50
Size of Birchbox Sample - 30ml
My Thoughts - Although this is a pretty decent sized sample I'm not sure it's quite my thing having dreadlocks and all! I will of course try it on my fringe and let you know what I think, it may be handy having something to dry my hair quicker! I think it'll end up as my mums! But you never know, I might end up loving it!
Reverence De Bastien - Unguent for Nail & Cuticles
Price for Fullsize - £15.50
Size of Birchbox Sample - 15ml
My Thoughts - Don't quote me on this, but I think this could be a fullsize product here! It's nothing that I have initially got excited over, but you don't know till you try, so as always I will reserve judgement until I've used it for a bit!
WEI - Royal Ming Firming and Hydrating Cream
Price for Fullsize - £74 (!)
Size of Birchbox Sample - 4ml
My Thoughts - This is the cutest sample I've ever come across! I'm not sure you've really got enough here to get much of an opinion on the product, but I can see it being handy for a night away or something!
Teapigs - Chamomile
Price for Fullsize - £3.49-£3.99 (15 tea bags)
Size of Birchbox Sample - 1 sachet
My Thoughts - This is what Birchbox call a 'Lifestyle Extra', which I actually think is a fab idea. This month is a sample of Teapigs, which I've heard a lot about, but never actually tried. I'm not sure about the Chamomile flavour, but there's no harm in giving it a try, all in the name of reviewing, of course!
You may have noticed I did this slightly differently to the Glossybox, not giving values, of the samples, as I don't have the info to work it out - but I think this is definitely good value for money! Overall I'm happy (although not excessively) with this months box and will definitely be staying subscribed for the times being - review on these products coming next week! Hannah

ReplyDeleteSorry for tempting you lovely! Hope you enjoy yours if you get one :)
DeleteThe boxes are lovely. Quite tempted myself! I wonder if the boxes will be of the same high quality each month?
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, I'm not 100% convinced, but we'll have to wait and see!
DeleteAhh wish I'd signed up now just for the fresh lip balm! I have heard so many American youtubers rave about this and really want it! x
ReplyDeleteSame as me, they made it sound so amazing! But as lovely as it smells etc, it doesn't really have any colour to it, which is a tad disappointing!
DeleteNew follower here!
ReplyDeleteThe Rose Fresh Sugar lip tint is indeed very sheer, yielding a barely-there color, but others in the line do impart much more of a punch. I have Rose, Passion, and the untinted one and the difference in the color payoff between Rose and Passion is night and day.
Thanks for the follow Karen :) Passion sounds gorgeous, but how strange at the difference in pigmentation. I do quite love Rose either way though!
