Review + Swatches: Venomous Cosmetics I Want Candy Lip Poison Set (Pinks & Reds)

Such a long title! Sometimes I think I should put myself on a lipgloss buying ban, it's getting a little obsessive recently! But I'm sure you enjoy reading the reviews - well I hope so anyway! Today I have a little insight of the soon to be discontinued 'I want Candy' collection from one of my favourite indie brands Venomous Cosmetics (link)

As always I've included a summary at the end :)

The Basics
As I've already said this is a lipgloss set from a well loved indie brand of mine. The set includes 5 pinky shades, but theres also a purple and neutrals set available (I've reviewed the Purple set here - link). I have the mini's set (which still come with a doe-foot applicator) which costs $16, but you can also get a fullsize set for $28. This set is limited edition, but there are permanent colours available in the lip poison line.

What did I think?
Firstly I want to address a packaging issue, these tubes have no stopper when you full the applicator out, meaning that way to much product is dispensed. But I have never had a problem with this in the fullsize versions. Aside from that the formula is quite thick and on the stickier side, which does mean that you'll get a good three hours wear from them. The scent is mildly minty, but not so that it has a tingly effect on the lips. The pigmentation is also decent.

The Colours!

Bubblegum Blast - Just as the name describes really. It's on the pale milky shide and probably just a little too pale for me!

French Burnt Peanuts - Strange name! This is a medium pink shade with some gold shimmer in it, probably actually my favourite of the 5!

Gummy Gummis - Is this an american sweet? That aside it's a non-creamy, non-shimmery pink toned red.

Jolly Rancher - A nice bright barbie pink, a bit of shimmer and generally an alright shade.

Peppermint Twisted - Not the greatest formula wise, it tends to not apply as evenly as I'd like, but better over lipstick. The colour is a metallic red toned berry shade in the tube, but this doesn't translate so much to the lips, being a lot sheerer on!

The Good - cheap, last 3 hours, good value set.

The Not so Good - packaging, quick thick and a little on the thick side.

Would I repurchase? Maybe, but not the mini sizes!
