Photo Tutorial: Fireworks Nails!

So ages ago I did a galaxy nail tutorial (link) and it was requested by quite a few of you that I made some more nail tutorials. I know I've taken my time but I'd lost my mojo a bit. But I'm happy to say it's back and I now have a few ideas stored in my memory bank to share with you guys. And I promise they're better than this one - I'm not overly happy with this one in all honesty, but they do look a lot better in real life! Anyway I hope the tutorial is helpful!

What did I use?

ELF Nail Polish - Dark Purple Glitter
17 Holo Nail Polish
Bourjois 1 Seconde Gel Polish - Bleu Water
MUA Nail Quake - Silver (this is a crackle but used for small areas it's fine!)
Models Own Nail Polish - Freak Out!
NYC Expert Last Nail Polish - Classy Glassy
Small Dotting Tool

Step 1
Paint you nails all over with a night sky colour, I used ELF's Dark Purple Glitter, but go for a black or deep navy if you want!

Step 2
Using the small dotting tool (tooth picks with just about do the job if you don't have any!) draw some stripes and dots on your nails in a kind of firework pattern. I went with a silver/blue theme. But I think gold, red and orange would also look really nice. I used the dotting tool by dripping a drop of the polish onto a scrap piece of paper and dipping the dotting tool into it from there. It's helpful to have a cotton pad on hand to wipe it off between colours!

Step 3
I think this is where I ruined my patient work. But actually it has made me fall in love with the Models Own polish I used as a top coat. That glitter is insane! Anyway after apply a glitter coat (or not!) seal with a clear polish to hold it in and voila!

I suggest you don't use a top coat as intense as I did if you want to see the designs you've made! But I promise future nail tutorials will be better! And as always if you had any requests let me know and I'll get practicing and come up with something pretty for you! Thanks for stopping by, Hannah

  3. I think they look fab, I don't think the top coat takes away from it at all :) Just adds to the whole fireworky-ness! Really wish I could grow my nails a bit longer so I'd have a bigger canvas to work on, but I'll still try it out!

    1. I'm sure they'd look great on shorter nails too! Mine used to be really short and then I started using the Sally Hansen Nail Base (from Boots) and acetone free remover and it seems to have worked!

  7. mmm...might give these a try then. the red/orange combo u suggest wuld look amazing. I stress out something awful when my nail polishing goes wrong! maybe I'm often too impatient to let it dry properly before using my hands!

    1. I can get impatient too, I often paint my nails before I blog/ use my laptop as I'm less likely to mess them up typing than doing other things!
