I say it every time I get around to reviewing another Lip Boom, but I really don't like the names of these. It's seems like they're trying to be far too kool and down with the kids! Maybe I'm just not kool enough, it's highly possible! I've been on a massive red lip binge at the moment, wearing one pretty much every day! I should do a Top Picks on all my favourite products really! I've stored the idea in my memory bank! Anyway I hope you enjoy today's post!
As always I've included a summary at the end :)
The Basics
These lip duos come with a lipstick and lipgloss in complementary colours. They can be worn in four ways,
each side on it's own, layered or with just a small amount of gloss
highlighting the lipstick. My favourite ways to wear them are layered or
the lipstick alone though! In total there are 8 different colours available, in shades to suite everyone - reviews of the rest are coming! As for how much product you get, there's 2.5g lipstick and 3.5ml of lipstick. You can also pull the end of the lipstick end which gives some more lipstick!
The Lipstick
I do feel like I repeat myself in my Lip Boom reviews, because the formula as you may expect is very similar with the products. They are all very soft and moisturizing in texture, with a slight glossy, but almost matte finish. I do have one slight issue with the formula though, it tends to settle into the creases of the lips - especially the bolder shades like this one. But the colour itself tends to last for around 4 hours. This red is slightly blue, cherry red.
The Lipgloss
The lipglosses attached to these are designed to be volumizing, which they do by having glitter in them. Some of them can't really be felt on the lips. But the glitter in this one is on the gritty side and rather annoying to wear! The texture of the gloss itself is quite nice though being non-sticky and having a slight vanilla scent to it, just like the lipstick does! As for wear time, it's around 2 hours, but being non-sticky this is acceptable for me! The colour in it's very sheer, but very slightly red with some rather chunky glitter in it.
The Good - 4 in 1 uses, 2 in 1 products, cheap, value, non-drying, pigmented, nice bright red!
The Not so Good - really chunky glitter in the gloss which can be felt on the lips, no bright pinks in the line.
Would I repurchase? I would for the lipstick (although the colours not anything particularly special), but I'm not too keen on the gloss.
Who might like it? Those that like a bargain and a quality, but cheap red lippie, I wouldn't particularly recommend this for the gloss though.
Price & Availability -£3, MUA's Website and Superdrug.
You've probably noticed my lack in posting over the last few days, I'm currently on a Uni Fieldtrip. So time is a little scarce! But I love you guys too much though to not get a little something up, plus I just can't get away from the blog! Anyway I hope you enjoy the post, I'll be back with a proper post schedule on Weddnesday! Hannah x
