Whilst I was at London Fashion Week with 17 a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to interview the lovely Vanesa Guallar (17's Make-Up Artist), which was amazing to say the least. And this afternoon I received a copy of the interview to share with you. I must say it's an interesting read and I really hope you enjoy and like the questions I asked!
What was it that
made you want to start a career as a make-up artist?
As a child I loved
experimenting with different colours and textures and always loved
doing my friends’ hair and make-up or painting their nails –
anything I could get my hands on really! So for me it began as a
hobby.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like how each day is different: I could be working on fashion editorials or with celebs one day to working with the 17 brand team on next season’s products the next. Working on Zoe Jordan’s show at London Fashion Week was fun – such a great atmosphere and some lovely people.

If you could do
anyone’s make-up, who would it be?
It’ll be between Beyonce, Rhianna or J-Lo but it’s a difficult one to call!

What's your
favourite 17 product?
It changes all the
time as they always bring out great new products. Right now I like
their 17 Smoulder Gel Eyeliner £3.99, which is a gel eyeliner
that has a soft, silky finish. It’s perfect for creating a
quick smudgy black eye and is so easy to use – just dip the mini
brush into the pot and dab the gel across the lash line, smudge and
blend. You can layer up for a serious smouldering look or use as a
base on your eyelids, like an eyeshadow for an intense smokey eye.
Have you got any tips for getting the perfect winged
liner?
My tip for winged
liner is to draw the line with a pencil liner that is really soft and
easy to remove such as 17 Eye Khol Pencil £2.89. My absolute
tip is to always make sure you follow your eye shape and line. To
give it bolder darker colour, add the 17 High Drama £3.99
over the top, which is a liquid liner that has an easy to use
applicator, which means it’s so easy to add a smooth line along
your lash line for a natural look.
What's your
favourite type of look to create?
I love the red
carpet Hollywood glamour look, which is full of vibrant colours like
bright gorgeous lips and big bold lashes. To re-create it, try 17
Mirror Shine Lipstick £4.79 in Hollywood, which is a hot
red and has a handy mini mirror hidden in the lid, and coat your
lashes with 17 Blow Out Blackest Black Mascara £6.29. It’s
added glamour in an instant!
What make-up
looks/colours are you most excited for this season?
I’m really interested to see the new crimson shades this autumn which are all very showbiz and just what I love. To get ahead of the trend this season, add a slick of dramatic dark colour with 17 Mirror Shine £4.79 in Scrumptious or Roasted Red for a delicious berry look.

What secrets
do you have for keeping your skin looking fresh and dewy?
Here are my three
secrets: number one, always eat healthily and drink plenty of water
which is crucial for keeping skin looking
radiant and healthy. Number two, make sure you use a light and soft
formula that isn’t aggressive on your skin such as a BB cream. 17
has one (£6.99) which blends really well into the
skin, covers up imperfections and makes your complexion brighter.
Finally, number three, always remember to
remove your make-up properly before you go to bed as it not only
removes dead cells and improves circulation but means your
moisturiser can get to work on your skin better!

the stores on 3rd October
I really hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did thinking up the questions! And also reading about some new upcoming products - I have no pictures I'm afraid! Thank you so much for stopping by everyone! Hannah
