Review + Swatches: Glossybox August 2012

Today (and yesterday evening) really haven't been my day. My camera's memory card went on the blip and deleted over 400 unbacked up pictures. So I retook some, which then turned out to be corrupt. My superstar of a boyfriend has now formatted the card and it appears to be working. But this still leaves me with a lot of product images and swatches lost. So in todays post I'm afraid you'll be seeing the same pictures as the 'What's in my August Glossybox' post, different words though I promise!

Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that offers 5 beauty samples/miniatures for £10 (+p&p) a month all in a lovely box. You can find the UK Website here (link)

What did I get in my box?
  • Alessandro Pro White Nail Polish
  • DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
  • All for Eve for the Eve Appeal Eve's Balm
  • Vera Valenti L'ombre à Paupière Margarita
  • Lipcote
  • Glossybox Lipstick - Glossy Pink

If I haven't mentioned here things you think I should have then check out my first post of this box - link here.

Alessandro Pro White Nail Polish

What they say - Optically brightening effect nail polish with anti-yellowing formula for radiant white and gleaming nails.

What I say -  I actually thought this faired pretty well and did get rid of some of the yellowness in my nails. And for that I really liked it. However on areas of my nails that weren't stained this did give a slight blue tint. Personally I tend to just cover the yellowness up with more colour! But each to their own!

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
(£18.50 for 200ml, various sizes available from DHC's Website - link here)

What they say - This revolutionary water-soluble cleanser is better than any other make-up remover you've ever tried.

What I say - That's a bit of a claim isn't it! But actually on my combination skin I found this to be rather fabulous. Very good at removing make-up whilst leaving my skin soft and grease free. I'm not sure I'll be forking out for a full size (although it would last forever as you only need a few drops), but will definitely have a hunt for a nice highstreet cleansing oil!

All for Eve for the Eve Appeal - Eve's Balm
(£4.95, from the All for Eve Website - link here)

What they say - Eve's balm is an easily absorbed recovery balm to nourish dry chapped skin.

What I say - I love the packaging and also love that they donate money to gynecological cancer research. The balm itself smells quite herby and has a really nice texture to it and I find that like it claims it sinks in really easily. Although I don't find it to be particularly wonderful at nourishing my skin.

Vera Valenti L'ombre à Paupière Margarita
(£3.85, no information provided on suppliers)

What they say - An eyeshadow palette offering a selection of 10 different colours with an applicator included.

What I say - Why was this included, why?! It's a cheap, low quality product that I probably would have used aged 12/13. The pigment is virtually non existent in most of the colours as well as the blending ability being poor. I don't really have much more to say on this really, except for poor choice glossybox!

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer
(£3.69, Boots)

What they say - The original lipstick sealer and secret of long lasting, feather fade and water resistant lipstick.

What I say - I was very happy to see this here as it's a classic that I had yet to try. I would say don't use the brush that comes in the bottle as it'll make the product a little 'dirty', use a lip brush instead to keep in clean. I actually found my lipstick to be still slightly transferable with this, but lasted much longer. I've yet to decide how it compares with ELF's MakeUp Lock & Seal - comparisson coming at some point!

Glossybox Lipstick - Glossy Pink
(worth £9.50, but not available to buy as far as I know)

What they say - Professional beauty lipstick for soft glamorous lips with a luminous, long-lasting colour.

What I say - This lipstick is actually of a very good quality, so great as an 'extra' in this months box. It is actually made by Kryolan a famous theater make-up brand. And the colour is also a beautiful dusky rose shade with a good pigmentation and slight gloss to it. I very much like and will use this!

Overall I was very happy with this months box, getting a lot of products that I'll get good use out of. Although I'm trying to forget about that palette... What did you guys think of this months Glossybox? I'm hoping you guys liked it too! Anyway thanks everyone for stopping by and I'll speak to you again soon, Hannah
