You know sometimes you buy stuff out of pure curiosity? Well that's the trap I fell into with this product! I was never a fan of the ELF Liquid Eyeshadows, so really I should have given this a miss. If I was sensible anyway, but you'll be pleased to hear I'm not and I have it here to review for you today!
As always I've included a summary at the end :)
Although these are part of the essential line, they have come with a slightly inflated price of £2.50. But that's still comparatively cheap compared to most make-up! Personally I think that that white lipgloss style packaging looks cheap, but it comes with a user friendly doe-foot applicator. Inside there's a decent 6ml of product and comes in 4 different colours.
I can see some definite similarities this and between the liquid eyeshadows ELF does. They both have the same wet texture which then dries down on the eye to be creaseproof. This all sounds good, but in all honesty I'm really not a fan! They can definitely be felt on the eyes and tend to to have an uneven finish to them. Although not as prone to flaking of as the liquid eyeshadows. I'll be honest with you here, I haven't tested the longevity of this as I can't bear to have it on my eyes for that long! But it does set down and didn't crease in a few hours.
Colour & Application
To apply I tend to just apply straight from the tube and then use a fluffy crease brush to smooth out the edges. In the pictures of me wearing this I've also put some other colours in my crease, but nothing else (including primer) on my lid. As for the colour, it is a pale purple in the tube but the colour sheers out to be a lilac toned metallic silver once applied, and not particularly even either.
The Good - cheap, does set down and didn't crease for the few hours I wore it.
The Not so Good - doesn't apply evenly, colour is washed out, you can feel it on the eyes, not the quickest to dry.
Would I repurchase? No, it's really not my cup of tea! But I was silly to buy it as I didn't like the very similar liquid eyeshadows ELF does.
Who might like it? Those that were a fan of the ELF Liquid Eyeshadows.
Price & Availability - £2.50, ELF's Website
As I said, not really my cup of tea! But I do really like and recommend the Collection (2000) Metallic Cream Eyeshadows, which are the same kind of idea! But anyway I'm going to finish watching me some Game of Thrones and have me some dinner. Have a good night! Hannah
