If you haven't seen these little tins before, you're probably wondering what on earth a Boho Balm is! I was at first anyway! What it is, is basically a magical little tin with two different coloured products in it, each of which are multi purpose. It is usable on both the lips and cheeks being classed as a 'Cheek & Lip Tint'. MeMeMe isn't the cheapest brand on the highstreet, but coming in at £6.50 it's reasonable value for what it is!
The Basics
In the convenient and cute little tin comes 11g of product which split between the two colours we should safely assume as 5.5g per shade. So as I said there's two colours in the tin each of which can be used on either the cheeks or the lips. Making it a very practical product for travel. There is also a very subtle vanilla scent to it, which I'm so-so about. The shade I have here is Coral Taupe, but there is also another shade in Pink Rouge.
The Formula
If you've ever tried a lipstick in pan form, you might be able to relate to the texture of these. But for those that haven't tried them, think lipstick but a little softer and easier to blend! As for longevity I don't find these to be the longest lasting, getting around 2 hours wear on the lips and just a few hours on the cheeks. The colour is quite sheer, but still visible, so great for warm summer days. I also haven't found these to be drying at all.
The Colours
Both have a slight glossiness to them, but have no shimmer or glitter in them.
Coral -This is a very orange, slightly pastel shade. That I would not really call an outright coral. I'll be honest, I think I must've been on a mad one when I bought this as it really doesn't look my colour, but actually once on it's fine.
Taupe - This is a really nice taupe, not too dark and having a very slight plum tone to it. And believe it or not looks a let better on than you may think.
On the Cheeks
I'm personally not into using this on my cheeks as it has a tacky (as in slighty sticky, not bright and cheap!) feel on the cheeks. I've tried setting it with powder blush or just a general face powder, but the tackiness still can be felt slightly - which is not quite my thing. And also explains why this doesn't last as long on! For reference I apply it using the ELF Stipple Brush. But for the lips this is great stuff for the summer!
The Good - very multipurpose, value, great for travel and the summer in general, compact, not drying on the lips.
The Not so Good - doesn't work too well as a blush for me as it doesn't set into the skin, staying tacky and therefore not lasting as long.
Would I repurchase? In all honesty probably not, as I have many semi-sheer lip products, I was hoping this would be a great travel item for cheeks and lips.
Who might like it? Those that like to carry minimal products and like a simple summer look.

So all in all I actually really love the idea of this as although it didn't quite hit the mark for me on the cheeks, it's still fab and practical for the lips. And still looks nice on the cheeks - a very important factor! But anyway thank you all for stopping by, I really appreciate it and I'll speak to you again soon, H :)

mm, still in two minds about trying this, and i just don't think its going to work for me which is a shame, but the coral really suits your lips :) xxx
ReplyDeleteThankyou :) I don't think this works well as a blush if you have oily skin, it's just not the right texture! If you wanted a good tinted balm type product try the Sleek Pout Polishes, they're really good!
Deletethanks for the review, I was wondering how these would work as a balm and a cheek product
