ELF Products I Regret Buying - with Video!

A few weeks ago I shared all my favourite ELF Products (link) with you. But with all brands there's going to be things that personally don't hit the mark for all of us. And as a beauty blogger I don't want to just post about all my favourite things, but also the ones that disappointed me as well. Compared to the amount of ELF I have this isn't much - the majority is fantastic value for money! And just to mention, just because I don't like it doesn't mean you can't. The world would be a pretty boring place if we were all the same!

100 Piece Eyeshadow Set
(£15)
In theory and in pictures this is great. And for those wanting a lot of choice without spending too much money a good choice. But for someone like me who has a reasonable amount of make-up not so great. There's a lot of variation in quality in here. So although a few of the shadows are of good quality a fair few aren't. So I just find myself not reaching for it and going for other more reliable things.

Beauty Eye Manual - Bright Eye Edition
(no longer available)
After my failings with the 100 palette I thought I'd go for something smaller, if I remember correctly I only payed £5 for this. But even so the eyeshadows really weren't great. Some were so hard you could barely get any colour from them and others so powdery that they get dips in the pan after a couple of uses. The eyeliner was also really hard so I've not really used it. But to be fair there are a couple of nice shades in here and in all honesty for £5 to have two alright eyeshadows isn't too bad!

Brightening Eye Colour - Pretty N Pink
(£1.50)
This one is more of a regret in the colour I chose. The product is actually alright for £1.50, a little sheer and powdery. But overall that's fine and I really like some of these quads - Brownstone and Day 2 Night being my favourites. But this one just isn't my thing, I just don't really reach for pale pinks! The pearly white in here isn't too bad though!

Liquid Eyeshadows (Mocha Madness & Sultry Satin)
(£1.50)
In my video I was having a bit of a blonde moment and kept saying they crease loads, what I actually meant was they flake loads! And within a few hours too! It's unfortunate that the formulas so poor really because Mocha Madness is a stunning mahogany colour! Sultry Satin isn't quite as exciting and also rather sheer, but since filming the video I had the bright idea to use this as a cheek highlight and it actually wasn't half bad!

Liquid Eyeliner - Black
(£1.50)
This is something I think a few of you probably will like. It applies nicely and opaquely with one stroke. This stuff is seriously black! A slight drawback is that it takes a long time to dry down - we're talking minutes here. But if your on a budget then you might consider this. However for me and my watery eyes I just can't use this as it's is 100% not waterproof and leaves nice streaks down my face!

 Cream Eyeliner - Gunmetal
(£3.50)
In general I'm really liking these liners Metallic Olive and Teal Tease being my favourites. But this particular one is sheer sheer sheer. Not something that works well as a liner. It's not completely useless though as it can be used as a eyeshadow base, but again it would work better if it was more pigmented!

Super Glossy Lip Shine - Party Peach
(£1.50)
Again it's the particular colour I dislike here. Well the formula of this particular colour! I have the clear shimmery one and that ones fine. But Party Peach is thick and goopy and rather sticky too. This does usually mean it lasts a little longer which is a bonus I guess, but I just can't stand having this on my lips and have to remove it so I don't actually know what the wear time is! Angel (my other one) is fine though, so it's either specific to this shade or I have a dud!

Professional Bronzing Brush
(£1.50)
I really don't know where to start with this brush! It's floppy, not dense at all and splays on the face. Easily misshapen and in my eyes not something worth using. And that's all I really have to say about this brush, sorry for being so negative, but a serious dissapointment. But the Blending Eye Brush from the £1.50 line is amazing, I have 3 I think!

I hope you found the post helpful, but remember this is just my experience! I was considering doing a more general post on things I regret buying, would you like that? If so I'll conjure something up! But anyway I hope you all have a good evening, I need to go and decide what to do with these things now - I can't bring myself to throw things I haven't finished! Hoarder much! Thanks, H :)

  1. I have a few of the Elf £1.50 eye brushes, and I personally find them awful. to flimsy, but I guess for £1.50 you can't expect to much. The studio line is amazing though. Great review.

  3. I love 'regret' reviews so would love a general one. This vid reminded me of the elf stuff I didnt like-the lip shine in Malt Shake, browny colour really didn't flatter and the matte lip colour in Tea Rose i think. Off loaded it to my mum in the end, she does love a good mauve!

    1. Cheers for sharing, I love to know what everyone else isn't liking too! The lip shine doesn't sound my thing either really. Will get a post up in the not too distant future for you :)

  4. I love videos seeing what people don't like using. I have Revlon Photo Ready foundation which I absolutely hate - clings to all my dry bits, slightly too yellow and has a load of horrid glitter in it :( awful stuff.

    1. Glitter in foundation - that's madness! And so many people rave about that foundation, weird! Will definitely steer clear and will get the video up soon!
