LOOK Beauty is a fairly new make-up brand available from Superdrug and brought to us by a UK magazine called LOOK. Now the magazine isn't really something I like to read much, so I was very shallowly dubious of the make-up. But when I saw it pop up in my local Superdrug I headed over to the stand to have a quick look and a swatch. And I must say my first thoughts were very wrong! The products actually looked pretty nice and I ended up picking up this all-in-one lipgloss/lipstick duo for £8.
As always I've included a summary at the end.
This is basically an all-in-one lipgloss and lipstick duo, great for those of us on the go! The gloss end is coloured so that you can see what the colour is at a glance which is a great touch. For your money you get 4g of lipgloss and 2.5g of lipstick. Which from what I have is on the smaller side of average, but I'd still say you get a fair amount. As for the colour selection I can't find anything official on the net, but from what I remember there was a good choice with most of them being fairly bright - even a purpley shade!
This is described on the packaging as having a matte finish, but as you can tell from my Lip Swatch it does have a slightly glossy finish. Normally I'd quite like that, but being paired with a gloss I probably would have rathered this was matte! It glides on really nicely and feels almost balm like on the lips whilst having a good pigmentation. On me this lasts around 2.5 hours on my lips and I don't find it dries them out either!
This is slightly sheerer than the lipstick but still has pigmentation and will work well all by itself. It doesn't feel particularly sticky on the lips, but doesn't have the thinnest formula to it either. Once applied I find it lasts about 3 hours before I'd want to reapply - surprisingly longer than the lipstick! Something that's also worth noting is that it has a strong artificial coconut scent to it, which I personally kinda like. I wouldn't be for everyone though, but luckily it's tasteless!
Probably one of the most important things I look at when buying make-up is the colour and I was very drawn towards this one! It is pretty bright, I'd describe it as a bright coral with a slight redness to it. I wouldn't call it a red like the name suggests though! It has no shimmer or glitter running through it, but both products have different levels of gloss to them. I really associate the colour with summer, so kinda the wrong time of year for this review, but I'll probably mention it at some point when it starts getting warmer!
The Good - really pretty colour, good pigmentation, fab idea, great to carry around, practical packaging, reasonable amount of product, lipgloss smells nice.
The Not so Good - I would have preferred the lipstick to have a more matte finish like described as the gloss and lipstick are fairly similar.
Would I repurchase this? Probably, for some reason I keep thinking/wondering about the lilac one they have. But I'm a little scared to go for it!
The Bottom Line - Great little product but would have been nice if the gloss and lipstick were a little bit more different.
That just about rounds up todays post, but if I haven't mentioned anything you wanted to know then don't hesitate to ask me. And if anybody has tried the purple/lilac one I'd love to hear what you think of it as I really am tempted! But enough of my rambling! I hope you enjoyed this post, speak to you tomorrow, H :)
