Remember a few weeks ago when I told you about the All About Nude Palette, free with two purchases? Well I picked up this lipgloss to make up my two products. Sadly the palette is no loner available, but the Autumn Collection - A Woman Scorned, is now out! But today I'll be reviewing one of the Ultimate Lipglosses in Butterfly Cake, which is actually from the Candy Collection! You can get for £3.99, from Boots.
As always I have included a summary at the end.
The Basics
This is your bog standard doe-foot applicator lipgloss - not a plumping gloss like I originally thought. 17's plumping gloss is actually called Va Va Voom, which is what I thought I was buying, silly me! But anyway the Ultimate Volume glosses each come with 8ml of product, with this particular one being one from the Candy Collection - the other being called Peach Melba. The product is unscented, which is good or bad depending on your preferences.
The Formula
This has a great smooth and non-sticky formula, it's not as non-sticky as my favourite BeautyUK Lip Lusts, but I still definitely wouldn't call it sticky. Once applied I don't find that it dries my lips much, but it doesn't really do anything to moisturize them either. It lasts for around 3 hours on my lips, by which time there is little gloss, but the shimmer is still there, personally I don't find the shimmer residue a good thing.
The Claims - My Thoughts.
As you can see from the photograph above the product claims 'Colour intense lip gloss for fuller looking lips'. Personally I wouldn't say that the gloss in colour intense, in fact I find it rather sheer. Again it doesn't really do much to make my lips look fuller. But naturally, being a shimmery gloss will do something to make my lips look a little fuller. This is the claim that confused me into thinking it was 17's plumping gloss!

Colour and Pigmentation
This has a medium pink colour to it, with golden shimmer running through it. Don't worry it's nothing chunky so doesn't effect the texture on the lips. The pigmentation isn't as strong as I'd like, but it does make it more suitable for work etc. As for the finish, it is nice and does have a gloss to it, but it's nothing overly glossy, again maybe making it more suitable for work.

| 17 Ultimate Volume Lipgloss |
The Good - cheap, not sticky, has a nice gold shimmer to it, fairly suitable for everyday/work wear, lasts around 3 hours.
The Not so Good - Not as colour intense as it claims, when it wears off the shimmer stays on the lips.
Would I buy it again? Thats a difficult one, it's not that I don't like it, I just don't think it's anything special. I supose it depends if there's any colours I'm drawn to.
Who might like it? Anyone looking for a cheap gloss for everyday wear that has a golden shimmer to it.
The Bottom Line - It's a nice non-sticky lipgloss, but doesn't have the pigmentation I would have liked.
Thanks for reading my post, I hope you found it helpful/interesting, hopefully I've covered everything, but if not then feel free to ask away! Thanks again, H :)

Im not big on no17 glosses, they're quite cheap which is great but the formulas are quite basic shades which don't last long at all!
ReplyDeleteI actually found this was lasted a reasonable time, but I absolutely hated the one with the flamingo on from their last collection! Totally agree with you about the colour being basic though.
